The East Penn Technical Search and Rescue Team, Inc. are currently accepting applications for the position of Search and Rescue Team Member. If you are a volunteer who would like to train in the search and rescue field and are not afraid of a challenge, let me suggest you check out our organization!
We are a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to working cooperatively with all emergency service and law enforcement agencies to locate lost or overdue persons and provide technical rescue and/or evacuation services when required.
We will respond anywhere we are requested and to any type of search and/or rescue emergency with personnel highly trained in rope/high angle rescue, dive recovery, swift water rescue, ice rescue, mountain/wilderness search and rescue, structural collapse, trench and confined space rescue. Members of EPTSAR are also an integral part of the Carbon County Decon Task Force.
EPTSAR has been called upon to assist in such incidents like the shoring of a burned-out structure to facilitate State Police K9 and State Fire Marshall with victim removal and also the 9/11 World Trade Center tragedy.
The primary responsibilities of this position include: A Search and Rescue Team Member is an individual member of a SAR team who demonstrates the basic knowledge and performance requirements to participate as a member of a field team during a SAR operation.
To recognize the need for further training to acquire the knowledge skills, performance skills and experience needed to become a fully competent member of EPTSAR during a land search operation.
Maintain a 50% attendance with the organization!
Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:
Must be at least 14 years old! Must be somewhat physically fit! Must be willing to take State Certified Courses! Cost free! Must purchase some basic survival and personal protective equipment! Must be willing to travel! Must like the outdoors!
